PROLOGUE
Well, the 2nd interview....
My initial plan was to attend the "A STRANGE HOUR" event at the famous Hansa Studios together with some collector friends of the DEPMOD message board the following day on 19th March.
(read RECOIL19.NET Feature about this event)
Everything was booked already but I got an invitation the week before the event (rather unexpected) for doing an interview as RECOIL's appearance at the Meistersaal was going to be something special. So I changed the schedule for my Berlin trip...
I almost goofed the interview as I almost came too late!
I arrived in Berlin around noon and had plenty of time as my slot was planned for 17:30 to 18:00 o'clock. I spent quite some time in the centre of Berlin doing some sightseeing and enjoying the very first real spring day. Warm and sunny weather. Great! Later I headed for my accommodation and prepared for the interview.
I completely underrated the time to get to hotel Lux near Alexanderplatz and even worse I had to wait for the train (S-Bahn) quite long as there didn't come any! Standing in the underground already concerned if I can make it, I chose a different stop to get out as the station seemed to be nearer to the hotel than the Alexanderplatz station itself according to the map.
I got out and there were crossing streets with no street signs. Only 5 minutes to go!
I asked some people walking around about the street I had to go but nobody knew it. Strange! This can't be true! I saw a cab and asked the driver about the hotel and fortunately he knew it and showed me the right direction.
I was running like hell and arrived on the minute with no breath at all at the reception of the hotel.
Paul, my contact for the interview, was already waiting there having a grin on his face seeing me exhausted like that. He showed me the way to the hotel restaurant/bar where Alan and Britt were sitting in one corner.
Both of them also smiled because of my breathless condition. Alan said something like "calm down and have some water, etc." - fortunately I was the last interviewer so Alan pointed out that there is no time pressure at all.
We got over to a quieter corner and I had a great chat with him again while Britt was checking the internet with her laptop...
